CHARLES & KEITH Are Fusing Art, Poetic Excellence & Fashion With Their Newest Collaboration

Published

This season we’re all about accessories, whether it’s the morning struggle of choosing the bag that will accompany you for the day or deciding which jewellery matches the look you’ve got going on, it’s undoubtable that accessories and footwear elevate your outfit to a whole new level of put together (and who doesn’t want to look put together?) Well, we’ll let you in on a little secret this Summer, Singaporean fashion house and luxury goods company, CHARLES & KEITH is back with another highly-anticipated collaboration with none other than Spanish-born artist, Coco Capitán.

Known for her poetic musings and artwork, Capitán has had her works exhibited in galleries and museums across the globe and now her partnership with the brand is here to explore the complex emotions language can evoke in fashion. Celebrating individuality and creating wearable pieces that showcase her art, the collaboration merges the understated elegance of CHARLES & KEITH with androgynous and structured silhouettes that serve as a canvas for the creative’s artwork.

The brand’s iconic Perline Penny Loafers and Double Handle Sculptural Tote Bag, the two players within this collaboration, have been given the artist’s personal touch as she takes over the brand’s logo with her signature script – this is CHARLES & KEITH as we’ve never seen them before! Inspired by the childlike game “He loves me, he loves me not” (we’ve all been there, don’t even try and deny it!), blue daisies are stitched onto the loafers alongside a handwritten script of “Loves Me Blue, Love Me Blue Not.” This embroidery is continued onto the tote, telling a tale of a solo blue flower blooming through concrete, with deliberate uneven stitching to make each and every bag and shoe feel specially created for whoever’s wearing them.

One thing evidently noticeable throughout the capsule is the monochromatic design of all-black pieces, crafted as a conversation starter for all to ponder on the quiet brilliance behind Capitán’s words – we can’t think of anything better! The artist describes the inspirations behind her work: “My art is inspired by overheard conversations, diary entries, and sudden waves of introspection. I believe that words can transcend cultures and give us a glimmer of hope for brighter times.”

CHARLES & KEITH is once again excited to be a catalyst in promoting creativity, tapping into the minds of globally acclaimed artists to create limited edition and unique pieces featuring their artwork – something we’ve never previously explored. These pieces, paired with her poignant prose, are perfect collector’s items for art lovers and the fashion forward crowd.
