We don’t know about you, but over here at FROW we’re no strangers to only wearing an outfit once. Whether it was buying something for a special occasion or just finding that something looked different on than it did on the online, many garments are left to sit in the wardrobe never to be worn again. Well, ASOS is teaming up with leading rental marketplace Hirestreet to help us make better decisions when we're looking for an occasion wear.

It's no secret that fast fashion is taking over, with the effects of this leading to environmental damage, with fast fashion emissions even predicted to grow by 50% by 2030 if the current growth rate continues according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The option to rent out clothes instead is a great way to scale back on the impact of the current fast fashion cycle as buyers will be less likely to constantly purchase then throw away clothing. Sustainability? Yes, please!

Just in time for wedding season, ASOS are launching over 180 women’s occasion wear styles, with perfect garments for wedding guests, bridesmaids and even brides. Of course, the brand are remaining as inclusive as ever, with Curve, Petite and Tall sizing options to suit every potential buyer. Each item will be available to rent for anywhere from 4 days up to 30 days, with prices starting from as little as £20.

In a statement, Hirestreet CEO Isabella West noted that “In the UK in 2023, the average cost of attending a friend’s wedding is over £500.” With RRP’s of traditional occasion and wedding-wear costing up to £275, the marketplace offers a chance to cut back on spending and only hire clothing for when it’s needed – incredible, right?

This partnership is especially important right now with costs rising everywhere - buyers can even get their hands on the 2-for-£35 offer to make the most of the initiative.
