Celebrating Diversity, Honouring the Creative Legacy of Virgil Abloh and Supporting Those in Need

Published

This week in fashion has been one of innovation, elevation and sustainability, where we have championed independent business, embraced diversity and celebrated the legacy of the late Virgil Abloh. However, equally, it has been one of pain, mourning and fear for the world, a week that has encouraged us to unite, stand together and support those in need. Stick with us for this week’s roundup of all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle as well as how you can help, donate and support.

Kurt Geiger Donate Store Profits to British Red Cross’s Ukrainian Crisis Appeal

Kurt Geiger has donated 100% of their store profits from the last week which amounted to £50,000 to the British Red Cross’s Ukrainian Crisis Appeal to support the help to provide food, water, first aid, sanitation, medicine, warm clothes and shelter to those in need. All donations made will be referred to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross, who work to repair damaged infrastructure including water stations, homes, schools and community centres; alongside helping healthcare facilities with medicine and medical resources. In a mission of Global Kindness, the brand is working to help and reach out in any way they can in a situation of human suffering and crisis. THOMAS SABO make a Call for Donations in Ukraine

In response to the current crisis in Ukraine, THOMAS SABO and its long-term charitable partner “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e. V” are making a call for donations to help and support children in need in Ukraine. Donations began with company founder Thomas Sabo, his family, and the company who have sent 250,000 euros and written an open letter to the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko surrounding his deployment, commending his strength, bravery and courage. Any donations made will be sent in full to the charity who will distribute the donations to its partners working in Ukraine including SOS Children’s Villages and Caritas International. These charities will work to evacuate children and their families from dangerous war zones, transport clean drinking water and offer medical and emotional care where needed. Donations can be made at the following link: www.rtlwirhelfenkinder.de

Remembering the Late Virgil Abloh

A pioneer, a legend, a genius and a true visionary designer who paved the way for many others to follow. Blending contemporary fashion, music, design and intricate architecture, Virgil never failed to perfectly execute an urban vision that felt both revolutionary yet authentically down to earth. The latest posthumous Off-White show at Paris Week entitled Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience manifested his democratic and inclusive fashion revolution and paid tribute to the designer in an outer-worldly collection. A collection that rendered his vision for inclusive, expressive and impressionistic fashion whilst staying true to his passion for elevated tailoring and ready-to-wear street styles. The likes of Naomi Campbell, Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner, Serena Williams and Bella Hadid took to the runway to celebrate the legacy of one of fashion’s greatest. Between deconstructed gowns, elevated tuxedos, detailed slip dresses, chunky sneakers, puffer jackets and pieces patched with Abloh’s signature quotations including ‘Little Black Dress’, ‘Smoking’, a standout moment was a white flag printed with ‘Question Everything’. Something the designer himself never failed to do: ‘Question Everything’.

Earning their Stripes: Gucci Team up with Adidas

Playing with classic relaxed styles blended with elevated tailoring and born out of a fusion of sport and streetwear, Gucci has paired up with Adidas at Milan Fashion Week to debut their AW 22 Collection. Think Adidas’ Trefoil, Three Stripe logos, relaxed fitting tuxedo suits, throw-on trench coats, sports jersey dresses, patterned knitwear, corduroy pants; blended with Gucci’s Italian design sensibility, luxury expertise and classic monogram printing. Between bold colourways and muted understated styles, the experimental ready-to-wear collection redefines luxury sportswear and brings affinity to two timeless labels. What’s more, the gender-fluid collaboration is set to welcome Gucci’s take on the authentic Gazelle silhouette later in the year, with snakeskin, suede and monogram styles set to step up our sneaker game.

M&S do Denim the Sustainable Way

Redefine your staple jeans and join the sustainable denim movement with Marks and Spencer this season as part of their Jeans Redesign project led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Designed with timeless style and natural sustainability in mind, the new collection follows circular economy, maximising the use of recycled content, renewable materials, safe chemistry and material sourcing. Crafted from organic cotton, the five-piece capsule is home to styles from relaxed boyfriend and mom to regular and tapered styles. What’s more, the jeans even have an affordable price tag beginning at £18 (which we know can be a struggle when finding the perfect sustainable denim) as well as sizes and styles extending to womenswear, menswear and kidswear.

Ellesse’s Latest Campaign Celebrates LGBTQ History Month

Celebrating inclusivity, championing freedom and embracing diversity, Ellesse’s latest social campaign concludes LGBTQ History Month 2022 by spotlighting and empowering the voices of three trailblazers within the community. Daniel Brown known for curating diverse line-ups for Birmingham Pride that elevated the spirit of the community finds himself amongst Rose and Nana from Two Two’s Podcast who are recognised for their unapologetic truth and offering a voice to those who may feel as if they do not belong to traditional LGBTQ representation, as well as DJ Donnie Sunshine who spreads his high-energy, love and passion through his music; often found at hotspots including Jungle Kitty, Pxssy Palace and Fluid London. Touching on their personal journeys and experiences, the iconic figures are also dressed in Ellesse’s SS22 collection now available on their website. LGBTQ History Month may be over but that does not mean the conversation has to stop.
